Pet Care Information

FAQs

San Jose Cat Boarding, Dog Kenneling

In addition to assembling a care package for your pet while in San Jose cat boarding or dog kenneling, be sure to assemble useful information for kennel personnel.

We at West Valley Pet Lodge are conscientious about providing the best care possible for animals in our care. We require our guests’ owners to put us in touch with their veterinarians, family members and other alternate contacts we might need to call while they’re away. Most San Jose pet boarding operations will, in fact, insist on this information. This is a positive sign and should not be looked upon negatively. Requests for information are a kennel owner’s insurance that your pet’s health and well being can be adequately managed throughout their stay.

San Jose Pet Boarding: Pick-ups

If you are reuniting with a dog or cat after an extended vacation, it’s only natural to be excited when you pick up your beloved animal from a San Jose pet boarding facility. While this is to be expected, West Valley Pet Lodge recommends taking a few extra steps and precautions to ensure your reunion is happy, safe and smooth.

First, before you retrieve a pet from San Jose cat boarding or dog kenneling, make some preparations at home. Take a few moments to unpack and store suitcases, and put things back where they normally go. You want your pet to be welcomed back into the same home he left before your vacation. This familiarity will help him ease back into his usual environment with fewer snags.

When you greet your cat or dog after your absence, remain calm and don’t make a big production about the reunion. Making a scene can cue the animal to become overly excited, and can even cause him anxiety when he’s dropped off in the future. Allow the animal to calm down first, and then make contact with him.

Finally, take advantage of exit bath services. Although West Valley Pet Lodge guests are extremely well cared for, and enclosures are kept immaculate, they nonetheless can pick up odors from a lengthy stay on the concrete flooring of kennel runs. An exit bath is an inexpensive way to ensure that they return home clean and happy.
